“You mustn’t let a little thing like little stop you.” –Matilda
I didn’t grow up with theater the way many people do. In fact, I spent a long time with a pretty staunch disrespect and dislike of musical theater, thanks to a youthful desire to prove loyalty to people I admired and an outspoken high school band teacher (whom I loved). But I’ve always had a deep love of good music and good storytelling. Thankfully, my wife’s patience eventually led me to discover just how wrong I’d been about theater and all the joy it can bring.
I’ve worked across the Wasatch Front as both a performer and a technician, and in everything I do, I try to show my love of storytelling and my respect for collaborative, creative craft. Onstage, some of my favorite roles have been in Oliver!, Jekyll & Hyde, and Matilda—a show that remains especially meaningful to me for the way it celebrates human life, imagination, and the quiet bravery of both kindness and choosing your own path.
Behind the scenes, I’ve served as a sound designer, board operator, producer, and all‑around problem‑solver for productions such as Into the Woods, Something Rotten, A Christmas Story, A Christmas Carol (Menken), 9 to 5, Mary Poppins, Grease, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Fiddler on the Roof, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and many others. My favorite part of theater audio work is taking the beautiful performances onstage and helping them sparkle the way they deserve—because once they sparkle, you feel things. And once you feel things, you’re open to maybe looking at the world differently. That’s magical to me. I’m grateful for every chance to help bring a little more magic into the world.
