Brian Hahn

House Manager

My love for theater began with my first acting role at Rodgers Memorial Theatre in 2002. I quickly learned that portraying another person and telling their story can be a life-changing experience. Shortly after performing in my first show, my wife, Laurie, and I became ushers and greeters, deepening our connection to the theater both onstage and behind the scenes. When CenterPoint Theatre opened, Laurie stepped into the role of house manager and volunteer coordinator, while I began producing on the Second Stage—then known as the Leishman Performance Hall. In the summer of 2025, I stepped away from producing to join Laurie as a house manager, overseeing ushers for the Main Stage, Second Stage, and Academy productions, as well as auditions for the theater’s many shows.

Over the years, CenterPoint has become a second home—a place not only to perform, but to teach, build lasting friendships, and help bring exceptional live theater to audiences from across the Wasatch Front.

My favorite musical is A Christmas Carol, a timeless story of joy, redemption, and the power of change. My favorite play is Harvey, largely because of the lead character Elwood P. Dowd—a simple, honest man with a big heart and quiet wisdom. He delivers my favorite line in all of theater: “In this world…you must be oh so smart, or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant.”

Laurie and I have always loved being at CenterPoint together. Over the years, we have spent thousands of hours supporting its shows and events, and those hours are among our most cherished. We have been blessed with children and grandchildren who are—quite frankly—practically perfect in every way, and who, especially in those early years, devoted countless hours of their time building, painting, and striking sets in the Second Stage theater, as well as ushering and helping with events. For us, theater has never been just a place or a pastime—it has always been a family affair.
