Micah Young

Resident Photographer

"I always think there's a band, kid.” - The Music Man

So, here’s the deal.  I used to photograph sports – mostly football (American), but one fateful night in 2019, I brought a camera to rehearsal for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, where I had been cast alongside my talented daughter, Miley (also American). Somehow I stumbled into taking a few decent pictures and, a few months later, was asked to shoot production stills for Hunchback of Notre Dame in a pinch because someone was sick or something. A couple of those photos turned out OK, so I’ve been faking it here as the CPT resident photographer ever since.

Before entering the world of respectable theatre here at CenterPoint, I spent a few decades in comedy. Highlights included a stint at The Tonight Show, studying with the Groundlings and being a founding member of ComedySportz Utah. I currently run a little production studio in Salt Lake, where we make movies and TV.

When not shooting shows, a few of my favorite things are watching The Twilight Zone with my family, hunting in my home state of Idaho, drinking Diet Mountain Dew, and kissing my wife, Summer (not necessarily in that order). My favorite show is whatever show my kids are in at the time, followed closely by Paint Your Wagon. My favorite visual artists include Caravaggio, Norman Rockwell, and Cynthia Klumpp.
