Ami Swallow

Instructor

Ami has been singing since birth. She made her first vocal recording at age 3 (including “McDonald’s Had a Farm”). In order to support this vocal habit, she begged her parents to let her take piano lessons. She has had a long and successful track record of using music to avoid other tasks (don’t remind her younger sisters how many times she got out of washing the dishes after dinner because she “had to practice” …they still get very upset). In high school, Ami’s love of music led her to spend a lot of time performing with musicians, actors, and other unsavory characters. She started college at BYU as a Music Dance Theatre major but changed it to Music Education as she no longer wanted to run between the extreme ends of the campus for her classes (this was during the great WILK and library construction). Ami graduated and began forcing other, smaller people to sing all together at the same time (she is still amazed that she gets paid to do this!). She has taught choir, musical theatre production, and directed and music-directed musicals for nearly 20 years.
