Job Responsibilities
- Mix live shows according to the needs of each performance and production, under the direction of the Sound Designer for each production and CenterPoint Head of Audio.
- Mix up to 165 shows and/or rehearsals annually, including being trained and prepared to run the board for eight annual productions on the Mountain America Main Stage and Second Stage at CenterPoint.
- Operate and maintain audio equipment during performances.
- Ensure consistent, top-tier mixing for every performance.
- Collaborate closely with the Sound Designer, CenterPoint Head of Audio, and other production team members and CenterPoint Staff to integrate sound designs into overall production plans, and ensure excellent execution of all audio plans.
- Communicate effectively with Sound Designer, CenterPoint Head of Audio, and production teams to coordinate sound cues and transitions during technical rehearsals.
- Conduct checks of all equipment and devices prior to each performance.
- Coordinate with cast members, Stage Manager, Crew, for any specific needs or issues during each performance.
- Collect, clean, repair, and prepare microphones and other devices at the conclusion of each performance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures related to audio equipment and operations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for sound reinforcement and electrical safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sound cues and show script for each production.
- Provide regular updates to CenterPoint Head of Audio on the status of audio equipment and any issues encountered.
- Collaborate with Head of Sound and other sound team and production staff to ensure continuous improvement of audio quality at CenterPoint Theatre.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in using digital audio consoles, wireless microphone systems, and audio processing equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of sound reinforcement principles, microphone techniques, and audio signal flow.
- Experience with theatrical mixing.
- Ability to solve problems and technical issues under pressure.
- Schedule flexibility with evening and Saturday work as part of standard schedule.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, set up equipment, and work at heights.
Type of Employment
Salary, part time. Exempt. Average of 12-15 hours/week.
Pay
$17,000 annually ($110 per performance/rehearsal)
