Character Descriptions

Our Vision for Frozen

We’re not trying to recreate the movie. Disney already did that. These characters are iconic, and everyone comes in with expectations. We ask that you leave those expectations at the door. We’re not looking for impersonations or voice matches. We’re looking for performers who can bring truth, humanity, humor, and heart to these characters. If you have a fresh take on one of these roles, bring it. We want artists who can tell a familiar story in a way that feels authentic, alive, and personal. Most importantly, we’re creating a joyful, playful, as-fun-as-possible production of Frozen. Bring the fun!

Principal Roles

Elsa

The future Queen of Arendelle

Intelligent, disciplined, compassionate, and absolutely terrified of herself. Elsa has spent years trying to suppress her emotions and control powers she doesn’t fully understand. She longs to protect the people she loves, but her fear often becomes the very thing that hurts them. Beneath the restraint is a passionate woman longing to be free.

Vocal Style: Warm, powerful, expressive vocals with a strong mix/belt and touches of rock.

Inspired By: Clark Kent • Elphaba • Galadriel

  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 23–30
  • Vocal Range: E3–D5

Anna

Princess of Arendelle

Awkward, impulsive, funny, stubborn, and endlessly optimistic. Anna dives headfirst into life, making plenty of mistakes along the way, but her enormous heart and courage make her the emotional center of the story.

Vocal Style: Bright, youthful vocals with flexibility and a strong mix/belt.

Inspired By: Kimmy Schmidt • Rapunzel • Leslie Knope

  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 18–25
  • Vocal Range: G3–E5

Kristoff

Ice Harvester

Raised by reindeer and the Hidden Folk, Kristoff is practical, independent, and more comfortable around animals than people. Underneath his rough exterior is an incredibly loyal and tender heart.

Vocal Style: Warm, rich vocals with power and charm.

Inspired By: Han Solo • Hiccup • Nick Miller

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 20–28
  • Vocal Range: A3–B♭5

Hans

Prince of the Southern Isles

Charming, intelligent, attractive, and seemingly perfect. Hans always knows exactly what people want to hear. This role requires a performer with enough charisma to genuinely win over both Anna and the audience.

Vocal Style: Broad, passionate tenor with strength and ease in the upper register.

Inspired By: Prince Eric • Cary Grant • Loki

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 25–35
  • Vocal Range: C3–A5

Olaf

The Snowman

A snowman brought to life by childhood magic. Innocent, joyful, endlessly curious, and convinced that people are fundamentally good. Olaf sees wonder everywhere.

We are seeking a child or young man (age 8+) for this role.

Vocal Style: Cheerful, warm vocals full of character and charm.

Inspired By: Winnie the Pooh • Dug • Buddy the Elf

  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 8–12+
  • Vocal Range: E3–D5 (Unchanged Voice)

Sven

Kristoff’s Loyal Reindeer

Though he never speaks, Sven is one of the funniest characters in the show. Expressive, mischievous, affectionate, and smarter than most of the humans around him.

Inspired By: Donkey (if he couldn’t talk) • Pluto

  • Gender: Male

King Agnarr

King of Arendelle

A loving ruler and devoted father who desperately wants to protect his daughters. Wise and well-intentioned, but often driven by fear.

Inspired By: Captain Von Trapp • Mufasa

  • Gender: Male
  • Vocal Range: B3–B4

Queen Iduna

Queen of Arendelle

Wise, compassionate, and deeply intuitive. She understands her daughters in ways others cannot and believes love is stronger than fear.

Vocal Style: Warm, soaring vocals that suggest both strength and hope.

Inspired By: Kala • Marmee March

  • Gender: Female
  • Vocal Range: F3–B5

Oaken

Owner of Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post

Warm, welcoming, practical, and impossible not to like. The kind of person who can sell you a winter coat, a bowl of soup, and life advice in the same conversation.

Vocal Style: Bright, whimsical, expressive vocals with lots of personality.

Inspired By: Hagrid • Ted Lasso

  • Gender: Male
  • Vocal Range: A3–B♭5

Pabbie

Leader of the Hidden Folk

Wise, compassionate, and deeply connected to the natural world. He carries tremendous knowledge with humility.

Vocal Style: Warm, earthy vocals capable of both playful and serious moments.

Inspired By: Gandalf • Rafiki

  • Gender: Male
  • Vocal Range: A3–E4

Bulda

Hidden Folk Matriarch

Loving, enthusiastic, overbearing, and completely convinced she knows what’s best for everyone.

Vocal Style: Rich, grounded vocals with character and a light belt.

Inspired By: Roz • Aunt Eller

  • Gender: Female
  • Vocal Range: B♭4–D5

Weselton

Visiting Duke

Petty, status-conscious, dramatic, and almost always wrong. A wonderfully comedic royal.

Vocal Style: Character tenor with plenty of personality.

Inspired By: Dwight Schrute • Lord Farquaad

  • Gender: Male
  • Vocal Range: A4–F4

Young Elsa

Before fear enters her life, Elsa is imaginative, adventurous, and delighted by the magic she creates.

Vocal Style: Pure, soaring, warm vocals.

  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 8–12
  • Vocal Range: A4–C5

Young Anna

Fearless, energetic, and always looking for the next adventure. She adores her sister and finds joy in everything.

Vocal Style: Bright, soaring vocals.

  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 8–12
  • Vocal Range: B♭4–E5

Ensemble

The ensemble creates the world of Arendelle. Tracks include:

  • Townspeople
  • Coronation Guests
  • Ballroom Dancers
  • Hidden Folk
  • Oaken’s Family & Friends
  • Guards
  • Search Parties
  • Citizens of Arendelle

We’re looking for strong actors, singers, and movers who can create memorable characters and transform throughout the show.

Every ensemble track has featured moments and meaningful storytelling opportunities. These are not background roles. The success of Frozen depends on an ensemble that can bring warmth, humor, wonder, and believability to Anna and Elsa’s magical world.

While not every performer needs elite dance skills, everyone needs to move well and fully commit to the storytelling. These are active, meaningful roles that are essential to the production.

Show Auditions

Theatre is subjective. The most important part is the audition itself. However, many factors go into casting a production, such as height, weight, look, personality, acting ability, conflicts, past experience, presence, work ethic, doubles, doubles conflicts, age, etc. If we were not able to use you in a past production, please continue to audition. Our production team strives to provide a safe environment in which to promote artistic expression. Break a leg!
