All performers must complete the online audition form before submitting a video audition or scheduling an in-person audition time.
At CenterPoint Theatre, we are committed to honoring the intent of the works we produce. When writers, composers, or rights holders establish specific characteristics as essential to a role or the story, those requirements will be respected in our casting process.
Where no such requirements are established, roles are open to consideration based on the talent, preparation, and suitability of each performer for the production.
All are welcome and encouraged to audition.
Auditions are open to boys and girls ages 9–12. Those auditioning must meet the age requirement no later than October 20.
All children's auditions will take place by video submission only. Videos and completed audition forms must be submitted no later than:

Please prepare a 30-second excerpt of a song in the style of the show, with an emphasis on storytelling, personality, and fun!
Shrek the Musical celebrates the qualities that make each of us unique, so let your personality shine in your audition.
An accompanist will not be provided. A minus track is required and should be uploaded through the audition form. Your track will be ready for you when you arrive for your audition.
Please be prepared to provide all conflicts from January 13–April 28 and upload a digital copy of your headshot and résumé.

A lovable yet intimidating ogre who prefers the solitude of his swamp to the company of others. When a kingdom's worth of fairytale creatures invades his home, Shrek embarks on an unexpected adventure that challenges his views of friendship, love, and belonging.
Though gruff and guarded on the surface, he gradually reveals a kind heart and becomes an unlikely hero. Scottish accent required.

The spirited Princess of Far Far Away, Fiona has spent years waiting for her fairytale rescue while hiding a magical secret. Smart, strong-willed, and surprisingly unconventional, she proves to be much more than a typical princess.
As she and Shrek journey together, she discovers the courage to embrace her true self.

An endlessly energetic and lovable chatterbox who quickly becomes Shrek's most loyal companion. Fearless when it comes to making friends, Donkey's optimism, humor, and heart help break through Shrek's tough exterior.

The hilariously self-important ruler of Duloc. Determined to become a king, Farquaad sets out to marry a princess while ruthlessly banishing all fairytale creatures from his kingdom.
Beneath his confidence lies insecurity, resentment, and an obsession with power. A larger-than-life comedic villain.

The fearsome guardian of Fiona's tower. Though intimidating and powerful, Dragon is also romantic, playful, and longing for companionship.
After meeting Donkey, she quickly develops a soft spot that changes the course of the story.

A quick-witted gingerbread man who refuses to let even the toughest circumstances break his spirit. Despite his small size, Gingy becomes a source of courage and inspiration for his fellow fairytale creatures.
Typically portrayed as a puppet operated by a performer who may also appear as the Sugar Plum Fairy.

A mischievous puppet with a flair for drama and a tendency to stretch the truth—often quite literally. Clever, sarcastic, and endlessly entertaining, Pinocchio serves as a leader among the fairytale creatures.

A young princess filled with imagination, determination, and dreams of adventure. She eagerly awaits the day her fairytale destiny unfolds.
Actor will also portray a Fairytale Creature.

A young ogre beginning to navigate what it means to be different.
Actor will also portray a Fairytale Creature and Farquaad's Dad.

Additional Featured Roles — Teen Fiona, Pied Piper, Angry Mob, Guards, Knights, Rats, and the Citizens of Duloc
This production offers numerous featured moments and opportunities for performers of all experience levels to shine. Strong singers, movers, dancers, and tap dancers are especially encouraged to audition.

However, many factors go into casting a production, such as height, weight, look, personality, acting ability, conflicts, past experience, presence, work ethic, doubles, doubles conflicts, age, etc. If we were not able to use you in a past production, please continue to audition. Our production team strives to provide a safe environment in which to promote artistic expression. Break a leg!
